Update

Cecilia is doing well. She is learning new words all the time and having a blast with James’ parents during their visit.

Felicity is doing very well. She pulls herself up standing holding on to everything and will hold herself up with one hand and look around and move from one object to another standing holding on. She has become fascinated with the bathtub and I’m sure it won’t be too long before the girls start taking their baths together each night. Felicity’s first tooth made its first appearance yesterday. I knew it was coming so I had been checking and yesterday evening, for the first time, I could feel and see a tooth just broken through the surface of her gums. Felicity took a little time to warm up to the grandparents she had never met before but she has let them hold her a few times now – until she sees me and then she gets upset. (Isn’t it funny how mom can be this huge comfort when a boo boo happens and at the same time bring instant hysteria at her presence?)

Yesterday we all went up to Emmitsburg to see the Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. I’d been there once before but didn’t get to see it all. I still haven’t gotten to see the Stone House (her first home there) as they were short-staffed, but we saw everything else. I’ve taken quite a liking to St. Elizabeth Seton as a native-born American woman from New York, a wife, a mother, and an educator – she is one of the saints homeschoolers have adopted. So I bought a small statue of her while we were there … I’ll see if I can get a picture of it up sometime soon.

Tomorrow we will be going up to Philadelphia to see Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the Shrine of St. John Neumann and a few other things. Here’s hoping traffic is kind!
