Cecilia prayed outside of an abortion clinic (specifically, a Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC) today for the first time. I took her with me while Felicity stayed home with James.
Cecilia walked in an elongated circle with about 30-40 other people, carrying her pink plastic rosary, and praying that people did not give “babies bad, bad boo-boos.”
She got a bit distracted trying to pick up sticks and leaves and I had to carry her a few times to keep her from stopping. It is illegal to stop – we had to keep walking – and it wouldn’t surprise me if the pro-choice “escorts” watching us made an issue out of stopping, even for a two year old.
She also said she had fun – which is her way of saying she enjoyed it.
Now, she doesn’t know the whole Our Father or the whole Hail Mary nor does she count the beads very well, but there she was … walking with a group of adults and one other young boy (maybe about 4 years old) for about 40 minutes as a witness to anyone who drove or walked by or went into the “clinic” to the beauty of children and the wonder that is every human child. I’m so proud of my little girl.
