Frustrations with the 4th

Does anyone else have this problem? Or a problem with this?fireworks-9

Last night, around 9:30/10:00, someone began setting of firecrackers behind our house. Mind you, we live in a row of townhouses, so any fire mishap doesn’t just effect one house but could effect many. And, yes, this was on July 3rd, not 4th. In addition to the obvious safety concerns, the continuous *popping* noises woke Cecilia. Fortunately she went back to sleep on her own. But as a mother with a 3 1/2 year old, a 1 1/2 year old and a 1 1/2 week old, anything that unnecessarily wakes any sleeping little girl in my house is the enemy.

We had similar concerns last year when a group of teens lit firecrackers at the base of our front steps – which is just below Cecilia and Felicity’s bedroom window.  We don’t live in the country. But, assuming it is legal, couldn’t people make all that racket on their OWN property? Why do you have to leave your own property to make a racket on someone else’s and cause concerns and for someone else? I’m not looking forward to tonight.

I hope everyone has a safe and considerate 4th of July!

  1. Sorry to hear this…but you are in the same boat we are. Hubby, myself and our 5 month old were kept awake last night, mind you, July 3rd, until at least 11. (Went to bed about 9:45). Boom, crackle, and our bedroom curtains changing to orange, purple and green as the fireworks dictated. We live in an older neighbourhood. Not looking forward to tonight!

  2. Fireworks in Montgomery county are illegal. heck sparklers are illegal in Mo Co. Call the cops and let them deal with them. the only things legal are the little noise poppers that you throw on the ground to pop and aren’t that loud. If you see them or can hear them inside your house… they are illegal.
